Macau VIP Baccarat Revenue Jumps 35% as Baccarat Holds 85% of All Casino Win
DICJ data show Macau's VIP live-table baccarat revenue rose 35.4% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, with baccarat overall accounting for 85.2% of gross gaming revenue.
At a Glance
- VIP live-table baccarat GGR: nearly MOP19.56 billion (US$2.43 billion) in Q1 2026, up 35.4%
- VIP baccarat share of GGR: 29.7%, up from 25.1% a year earlier
- Mass-market baccarat: nearly MOP36.56 billion, 55.5% of GGR, up 6.5%
- Baccarat overall: 85.2% of casino GGR across 16 games at the end of Q1 2026
Macau's VIP live-table baccarat segment generated gross gaming revenue of nearly MOP19.56 billion (US$2.43 billion) in the first quarter of 2026, up 35.4% from a year earlier though 3.6% below the fourth quarter of 2025, according to data released by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ, April 2026).
VIP baccarat accounted for 29.7% of all first-quarter revenue from games of fortune, up from 25.1% in the first quarter of 2025 and just below the 30.7% share it held in the final quarter of 2025 — evidence of a real recovery in high-roller baccarat play (GGRAsia, April 2026).
Mass Baccarat Still the Biggest Table in the House
Mass-market baccarat remained the single largest contributor to Macau's casino revenue at nearly MOP36.56 billion, 55.5% of the total and up 6.5% year-on-year. Aggregate first-quarter GGR was MOP65.87 billion, up 14.3%, while slot revenue rose 21.6% to MOP3.98 billion (GGRAsia, April 2026; Inside Asian Gaming, April 17, 2026).
Eighty-Five Percent of Everything
Add the VIP and mass segments together and baccarat accounted for 85.2% of casino gross gaming revenue across Macau's 16 games of chance at the end of the first quarter. The share eased only slightly, to 84.4%, by the end of the first half of 2026. Roulette, by comparison, was under 1% (Macau Post Daily, citing DICJ, 2026).
The VIP figures come with a reminder about how the segment has changed. Macau's junket-driven VIP rooms of a decade ago have largely given way to operator-run premium salons — the model Galaxy Entertainment expanded at its Capella hotel in 2026 after demand outran the original six-salon design.
Why It Matters for Baccarat Players
Baccarat is not merely Macau's most popular game; it is the city's economic engine, and its share is rising rather than falling. For players it confirms that Asian-studio live baccarat — the format Macau's operators have exported to online studios — is where the industry's investment is going.
