Baccarat.gg and Wizard of Odds
Two independent calculations of baccarat odds, compared figure by figure.
Baccarat Odds Compared: Baccarat.gg and Wizard of Odds
Wizard of Odds has published baccarat mathematics for many years, and Wikipedia's baccarat article cites it for the game's house edges. Our Baccarat Probability Calculator works the same numbers out separately, from its own count of every possible hand. This page puts the two side by side so you can see whether they agree.
Baccarat.gg is not affiliated with Wizard of Odds.
This page is ours. It is not connected to, endorsed by or reviewed by Wizard of Odds or its author. Their name appears here only to identify the figures they publish, which we read on wizardofodds.com on October 11, 2026. Each table below links to the page its figures came from.
The Short Answer
We compared 98 baccarat figures from our calculator with the tables Wizard of Odds publishes. 92 agree to the last digit they publish, and the other 6 differ by 0.000001 or less. Nothing we compared points to an error on either site.
Main Bets: Banker, Player and Tie
Their Baccarat Odds for 1 to 12 Decks page gives the main-bet odds to 15 decimal places. Our data covers one to eight decks. For each of those eight deck counts we compared the probability of a Player win, a Banker win and a Tie, the expected return on each of the three bets, the chance of a pair in the first two cards and the return on the Pair bet at 11 to 1. That is 64 figures, and all of them agree to at least 13 decimal places.
The table shows the house edge for three of the eight deck counts. The house edge is the expected return with its sign reversed, shown here as a percentage.

Side Bets and Rule Variations
Side bets are where calculators are likeliest to part ways, because each one depends on a different detail of the hand: a pair, a three-card total, the winning margin or the number of cards dealt. We compared 34 figures across their Baccarat Side Bets, EZ Baccarat, Commission Free Baccarat and Baccarat Basics pages, each at the pay table they state. The table lists 20 of them, after the Pair bet from the deck-count page.

* A player advantage, not a house edge: at 18 to 1 this bet pays more than the fair price. "Last digit differs" means a difference of 0.000001 or less, explained below. Wizard of Odds column: the pages named above, read October 11, 2026, at the precision they publish. Baccarat.gg column: computed on this page from our calculator's data at the same payouts. Our calculator's own presets differ for two bets: Perfect Pair pays 200 to 1 when both hands hit, and Super 6 is preset to 15 to 1.
The 6 figures that differ in the last digit
All 6 are bets on the number of cards dealt: Small, Big and the 4-5-6 bet. Their page prints the probability of each result to six decimal places and works the house edge out from that rounded figure. When we do the same, we get their figure exactly in every case. Carrying the full precision through moves the last digit. The largest of these differences is 0.000001, which is one cent on a $10,000 bet.
Why Two Matching Calculations Matter
We did not build our figures from theirs. Our engine counts every possible deal for each deck count under the standard drawing rules and weights each outcome by its exact probability. The method is set out on the calculator page.
Baccarat has one right answer for every bet, because the drawing rules leave nothing to choice. Two programs written separately that reach the same answer to 13 decimal places are very unlikely to share a mistake. It also means a figure quoted from either site can be checked against the other.
What Each Site Offers
Wizard of Odds covers far more ground than we do. Its baccarat pages are written by Michael Shackleford, its copyright notice runs from 1998, and its baccarat guide links to analysis that our site does not attempt. Our tools do a narrower job: they give the odds for the exact table in front of you.

Looking for a Free Baccarat Game?
Both sites have one, and they suit different purposes.
- To practice at a table with scoreboards, use their free baccarat game. It shows the Bead Plate, Big Road and the three derived roads as you play.
- To see the house edge appear for yourself, use our Baccarat Simulator. It deals from a real eight-deck shoe with pretend chips, and its classroom mode plays up to 100,000 hands of one bet and charts the result against the edge. Nothing to sign up for.
Neither game can tell you what the next hand will be. Every hand is independent of the ones before it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do the baccarat odds on Baccarat.gg match Wizard of Odds?
Yes. We compared 98 baccarat figures from our calculator with the tables Wizard of Odds publishes. 92 agree to the last digit they publish, and the other 6 differ by 0.000001 or less. The small differences come from rounding in their tables of bets on the number of cards dealt, as explained on this page. The figures were read on wizardofodds.com on October 11, 2026.
Is Baccarat.gg affiliated with Wizard of Odds?
No. Baccarat.gg is not connected to, endorsed by or reviewed by Wizard of Odds or its author. This page is our own comparison of figures that both sites publish.
Why do two sites get the same baccarat odds?
Because baccarat has one right answer. The drawing rules are fixed, so every possible hand can be counted for a given number of decks, and two correct counts must agree. Two programs written separately that reach the same figures are strong evidence that both are right.
When should I use Wizard of Odds and when Baccarat.gg?
Use Wizard of Odds for shoes of nine to twelve decks, for card counting analysis and for the many side bets and variants our calculator does not cover. Use the Baccarat.gg calculator when you want the odds for your own table: its deck count, its commission rule and the payouts printed on its layout, with the expected loss for your stake.
