Bac Bo

Baccarat with four dice: the rules, the real odds and where to play it.

Bac Bo: Rules, Exact Odds and Where to Play Dice Baccarat

Bac Bo is baccarat played with four dice instead of cards. Evolution launched it in January 2022, calling it a blend of baccarat and Sic Bo, and it has since become one of the most searched live games in the Portuguese-speaking world. The three bets are the ones every baccarat player knows, Player, Banker and Tie, but the arithmetic underneath is different, and simpler: with only 1,296 possible rolls, every chance and every house edge on this page is exact, worked out by us from the published pay table.

At a Glance

  • Four dice, two for Player and two for Banker; the higher two-dice total wins
  • Player and Banker pay 1 to 1 and get 90% of the stake back on a tie; both cost 1.13%
  • Tie pays 4 to 1 up to 88 to 1 depending on the total; it costs 4.48%
  • A tie comes up on 11.27% of rounds, about one in nine
  • No drawing rules, no commission, no reason to prefer Banker over Player

How Bac Bo Is Played

A round of Bac Bo is a single roll. Four dice sit in individual automatic shakers recessed into the table, two under the Player label and two under the Banker label. During the betting time all four start to shake. The Player's dice come to rest first, then the Banker's, and the score of each side is the total of its two dice, from 2 to 12. The higher total wins. If the totals match, the round is a tie.

That is the whole game. There is no third card, no drawing table, no commission on Banker wins and nothing for the player to decide after the bets are placed. The dice stopping one at a time is what gives the game its rhythm: the leading side after the first two dice is known before the last two settle.

You can bet on three outcomes:

  • Player: the Player total is higher. Pays 1 to 1.
  • Banker: the Banker total is higher. Pays 1 to 1.
  • Tie: the totals match. The payout depends on the tied total, from 4 to 1 for a 6, 7 or 8 up to 88 to 1 for a 2 or 12.

When the round ties, a Player or Banker bet is not a push. The casino keeps 10% of the stake and returns the other 90%. That one rule is where the house edge on the main bets comes from.

Bac Bo Odds and House Edge, Exactly

Two dice give 36 equally likely results, so four dice give 36 x 36 = 1,296. We listed all of them. Player beats Banker on 575 rolls, Banker beats Player on 575, and the two totals match on 146. Those three counts, with the pay table above, give every figure in this table.

Banker44.37%1 to 190% returned1.13%98.87%
Tie11.27%4 to 1 up to 88 to 1Wins4.48%95.52%

The Player and Banker figures are the same because the game is symmetrical: each side rolls two ordinary dice, so each wins 575 rolls in 1,296, or 44.37%. Both bets would be perfectly fair if a tie were a push. Instead, on the 146 tying rolls the casino keeps a tenth of the stake, and 10% of 11.27% is 1.13%. Evolution publishes a 98.87% return on these bets, which is exactly what that arithmetic gives, so the published pay table and the 90% refund rule agree with each other.

The Tie bet, total by total

The Tie bet is really eleven bets with one stake. The chance of each tied total depends on how many ways two dice make it: one way each for 2 and 12, six ways for 7. The payouts run the other way, so the rare totals are paid close to their true odds and the common ones are not.

Tie by total. Chance is the share of all 1,296 rolls; a fair payout would be the true odds against the total.

The 88 to 1 on a double 1 or double 6 is the number on the advertising, and it is a fair price: the true odds are 1,295 to 1, so the casino keeps almost nothing on those two totals. The cost is in the middle of the table. A tie on 7 happens once in 36 rolls, a tie on 6 or 8 once in about 52, and all three pay 4 to 1. Those three totals alone are 86 of the 146 tying rolls. Add it up and the Tie bet returns 95.52 cents on the dollar, a 4.48% edge: four times the cost of Player or Banker, but less than a third of what baccarat's Tie bet costs.

Bac Bo Against Baccarat

Bac Bo keeps baccarat's layout and loses its asymmetry. In baccarat the drawing rules favor Banker, so Banker wins more often and the casino charges a commission to balance it; in Bac Bo the two sides are identical and the casino charges both of them the same 10% on ties instead.

House edge per bet. Baccarat figures from our Odds & Payouts page (eight decks, 5% commission, Tie at 8 to 1).

Banker1.13%1.06%
Player1.13%1.24%
Tie4.48%14.36%
How often a tie comes up11.27%9.52%

So a Bac Bo main bet sits between baccarat's two: a little dearer than Banker, a little cheaper than Player. The real difference is the Tie. Baccarat's Tie at 8 to 1 is one of the worst bets on a casino floor; Bac Bo's Tie is merely expensive. If you like betting on ties, Bac Bo is the cheaper place to do it. If you want the lowest cost per round, Player or Banker in Bac Bo at 1.13% is the answer, and it does not matter which.

One more thing changes: pace. A Bac Bo round is over as soon as the fourth die stops, with no cards to deal or squeeze, so you will see more rounds an hour than at a standard baccarat table. The cost per round is small; the cost per hour is the number that matters, and our Responsible Gaming page shows how to work it out.

Bac Bo found its audience in the Portuguese-speaking world. Over the twelve months to October 2026, Google Trends put the highest relative interest in the game in Angola, Cape Verde, Portugal, Mozambique and Brazil, and Brazil, with a population of more than 200 million, is the largest market for it by volume. Evolution publishes the game page in Brazilian Portuguese, and the casinos that carry it tend to run Portuguese versions of their sites.

For players in Brazil, one caution. Brazil began licensing online betting operators in 2025, and licensed sites use the bet.br address. The casinos linked below are international sites; whether one accepts players from Brazil is set out in its own terms, and we note what each says. Check before you deposit.

Our Pick for Bac Bo: Wild.io

Wild.io is one of the three casinos we recommend for baccarat, and it carries Evolution's Bac Bo table in its live lobby, which we checked on October 19, 2026. The site runs in Portuguese as well as English, its live-game cashback (code LIVE) applies to live tables, and Brazil is not on its list of restricted countries, though Portugal is. Deposits are in crypto from $20.

Where to Play Bac Bo

All three of the casinos we recommend for baccarat carry Evolution's Bac Bo table in their live lobbies; we checked each on October 19, 2026. For Portuguese-speaking players the restricted lists differ: Wild.io and Sportsbet.io accept Brazil but not Portugal, while Bitcasino.io accepts Portugal but not Brazil or Angola. All three run Portuguese versions of their sites. None of the three accepts US players.

Two other casinos on our comparison page also list Bac Bo: Rainbet (Evolution's table; Brazil not restricted) and 21LuckyBet (three Bac Bo titles, but its link serves players in the UK, Ireland, Canada and Finland only).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Bac Bo the same as baccarat?

No. Bac Bo keeps baccarat's three bets, Player, Banker and Tie, but replaces the cards with four dice. Each side's score is the total of two dice, and the higher total wins. There are no drawing rules, no commission on Banker and no natural 8 or 9. Evolution launched it in January 2022 and describes it as a blend of baccarat and Sic Bo.

What is the house edge in Bac Bo?

By our count of all 1,296 possible rolls, a Player or Banker bet costs 1.13% of the stake on average, because both bets lose 10% of the stake on the 11.27% of rounds that tie. The Tie bet costs 4.48%. That is the same 98.87% return on the main bets that Evolution publishes.

Is Player or Banker the better bet in Bac Bo?

They are identical. Each side rolls the same two dice, so each wins 44.37% of rounds, and both pay 1 to 1 with the same 90% refund on a tie. There is no Banker commission and no reason to favor either side. In baccarat, by contrast, Banker wins more often and pays less.

How often does a tie happen in Bac Bo?

A tie happens on 146 of the 1,296 possible rolls, which is 11.27% of rounds, or about one round in nine. Ties on a total of 7 are the most common (one in 36); ties on 2 or 12 are the rarest (one in 1,296 each). Baccarat ties come up 9.52% of the time.

Is the Bac Bo Tie bet worth playing?

It costs 4.48% of the stake on average, about four times a Player or Banker bet, but far less than baccarat's Tie bet at 14.36%. The payout depends on the tied total: 88 to 1 for a 2 or 12, 25 to 1 for a 3 or 11, 10 to 1 for a 4 or 10, 6 to 1 for a 5 or 9, and 4 to 1 for a 6, 7 or 8. The 4 to 1 payouts on the common totals are where most of the cost sits.

Can you predict the next Bac Bo roll?

No. The dice are shaken in sealed automatic shakers and every roll is independent of the last. Scoreboards show what has happened, not what comes next. The arithmetic is the same as for baccarat roads, which we tested over 16 million hands on our Baccarat Predictor Tool page.

Where is Bac Bo most popular?

Searches for the game are concentrated in Portuguese-speaking countries. Over the twelve months to October 2026, Google Trends ranked Angola, Cape Verde, Portugal, Mozambique and Brazil highest for relative interest, with Brazil the largest market by volume. Evolution publishes the game in Portuguese, and so do several casinos.
